Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is one of the Nigerian electricity distribution companies which its head office is located at Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, FCT distributing power to Niger state, Kogi state and Nassarawa state.

Benin Electricity Distribution Company

Another electricity distribution company in Nigeria is Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) headquartered at No 5 Akpakpava Street, Benin-City, Edo state.

It is one of the successor distribution companies (DisCos) created following the unbundling and privatization of the state-owned Power Utility, Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc.

BEDC distributes electricity/power to four different states; Edo, Delta, Ondo, and part of Ekiti state operating from twenty five (25) business districts with approximately 350 offices with about 13 million people and about 4 million households.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company

Eko Electricity Distribution Company has a track record of excellent performance in the sector, particularly in the distribution space. This ranges from top-notch delivery of customer service to reliable power supply to its customers.

In October 2020, EKEDC achieved a technological landmark by becoming the first electricity distribution company to launch the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition – Distribution Management System (SCADA-DMS) in Nigeria. Hence, the Company consistently receives top ratings from the regulator of the industry, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

This power distribution company distribute electricity to the Southern part of Lagos and Agbara in Ogun State.

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) stands on four pillars known as the company’s core values, namely INTEGRITY, CUSTOMER FOCUS, PROFESSIONALISM and INNOVATION.

Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) formally came into existence on 1st November 2013 as part of the unbundling of the electricity sector. It covers the largest franchise area in Nigeria, made up of –Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara and parts of Niger and parts of Ekiti states.

To ensure effective and competent management of such a large network, it is organized into five regions, namely Oyo, Ibadan, Osun, Ogun & Kwara regions, the regions are made up of Business Hubs.

IBEDC has a strong technical partner MERALCO, the largest power distribution company in the Philippines helping it to ensure it meets its target objectives.

Jos Electricity Distribution Company

The Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) PLC is an indigenous electricity Company, incorporated in Nigeria to carry out the business of electricity distribution and retail sale in the franchise states of Benue, Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe having eight year of experience with 530,778 plus customers.

It is a Public Liability Company and one of the eleven Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs) privatized by the Federal Government of Nigeria in pursuant to the Power Sector Reform Act of 2005 which led to the unbundling of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) as a Government owned power utility company.

JED prides its self on delivering quality electricity to its esteemed customers. It is presently headquartered in Jos, Plateau state.

Kano Electricity Distribution Company

KEDCO is one of the eleven Distribution Companies privatized by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of the electricity power sector reform program implementation.

As a distribution company, its core business activities are as described under section 67 of the Electricity Power Sector Reform Act which stipulates that: “A distribution license shall authorize the licensee to construct, operate and maintain a distribution system and facilities including but not limited to the following activities as may be specified in the license:

  • The connection of customers for the purpose of receiving a supply of electricity;
  • The installations, maintenance and funding of meters , billing and collection and ,
  • Such other distribution service as may be prescribed for the purposes of this section”.

Located in the north western geopolitical zone of Nigeria, the Company has license to generate, distribute and market electricity in the three states of Kano, Jigawa and Katsina.

Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company

Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company is one of the Nigerian power distribution companies that distributes electricity to four states headquartered at 1-2 Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, Kaduna State.

This company covers the electricity of states, like Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi. This company is one of the downstream operators. The company’s customer population is 490,000 plus.

Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company is a private electric distributor that provides power for a total of 14 million people in 4 states of Nigeria including Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom. It first operated as a government-owned enterprise before being privatized in 2013.

Yola Electricity Distribution Company

This electricity company distributes power to Taraba, Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. It’s one of the main distributors of electricity in Nigeria formally privatized in 2013.
