The following are the list and explanation of all faculties (schools) offered in FUTMINNA with their respective department or courses.
1. ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (EET)
ENGINEERING AND ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (EET) is one of the faculties offered in the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA). It was established in earnest in 1986 and produced its first set of graduates in 1989.
The Departments of Agriculture, Civil, Electrical & Computer and Mechanical Engineering were the first to commence in the School.
Subsequently, Chemical Engineering was established a year later. Currently, this faculty has expanded further with many new departments namely: Computer Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering.
The FUTMINNA faculty of engineering and engineering technology offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) degree in the following courses:
- Agriculture and Bio-resources Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering

2. INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY (IT)
The faculty of Entrepreneurship and Management (innovative) Technology is one of the two Schools created in Federal University of Technology Minna in 2009.
The creation of this faculty, Innovative technology was in response to the concern of the Federal Government and the directive of the National Universities Commission (NUC) on the need to produce graduates with the academic and professional skills that promote self employment and reduce over dependence on paid employment.
This concern is predicated on the high level of unemployment among graduates and the over-dependence on paid employment.
The faculty of Innovative technology commenced academic activities with staff and students transferred from related disciplines, particularly from the School of Environmental Technology of FUTMINNA.
As a fast growing University of Technology, where modern courses in Technology, Engineering and ICT have been established, that is located in a rapidly expanding city, with close proximity to Abuja, Kaduna, and other cities, FUTMINNA is an ideal location for such school.

3. ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY (ET)
The faculty of Environmental Technology of Federal University of Technology, Minna took off in January, 1986 with Architecture Department as the only academic department.
Other Departments, such as Building Technology, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning and Land Surveying and Photogrammetry, subsequently came on board at different dates in 1990.
Currently, the FUTMINNA Environmental Technology has six distinctive departments:
- Architecture
- Building Technology
- Estate Management and Valuation
- Quantity Surveying
- Surveying and Geoinformatics and
- Urban and Regional Planning.
You can obtain Bachelor of Technology, Masters and PhD degrees of any department under the faculty of Environmental Technology in FUTMINNA.
4. LIFE SCIENCES (LS)
The faculty of Life Sciences was established in FUTMINNA on November, 2014.
This faculty was divulged from School of Physical and Life Sciences. Lemon green is the official colour of the school.
The School of Life Sciences is one of the specialized schools in the University, offering courses leading to the award of B. Tech Degree.
Why FUTMINNA established faculty of life sciences?
The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) founded the faculty of Life Sciences in 2014 as a result of the following reasons:
- (a) In order to produce technologists in different areas of applied science who would be able to create job opportunities for themselves and others.
- (b) The initiation of applied research and offering of consultancy services to the public and private sectors through multi- faceted computer and other facilities.
- (c) The production of science and technology teachers to teach the technology of production of science equipment at the Sub-Degree and Post–Degree Diploma Levels.
- The School of Life Sciences consists of four (4) Departments which offer B. Tech. degrees and the student of this faculty must study for a minimum of three years depending on the point or mode of entry.

- Plant Biology Department

5. PHYSICAL SCIENCES (PS)
The FUTMINNA faculty of Physical Sciences was carved out from School of Natural and Applied Sciences on the 6th of November, 2014.
The this faculty contains six courses and they are;
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Geology
- Mathematics
- Physics and
- Statistics.
As a student admitted into this faculty, you can with your determination obtain BTech, Mtech and PhD degrees certificate in any course listed above.
6. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION (STE)
The FUTMINNA was officially approved at the 366th Senate Meeting of Federal University of Technology, Minna on Tuesday, 6th November, 2012. The former faculty of Technology Education was carved out from School of Science and Science Education.
This faculty was later renamed as School of Science and Technology Education in 2014 with three departments: Industrial Technology Education (ITE); Science Education Departments and Library Information Technology (LIT).
The school management and NUC have approved the establishment of the Department of Educational Technology and Department of Communication Technology in the school.
With this development, the total number of departments in the school rose to five. However, in the 2015/16 academic session, Department of Library and Information Technology was moved to School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT).
7. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT)
The FUTMINNA faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was created in 2009/2010 session.
The pioneer departments include Computer Science (CPT), Cyber Security Science (CSS), Information and Media Technology (IMT) and Library and Information Technology (LIT).
The faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) had the National Universities Commissions Pre-Accreditation Resource Verification Visit in 2010 which saw all the departments accredited.
Since its establishment, the FUTMINNA faculty of ICT had graduated over 1000 undergraduates and 500 postgraduates.
8. AGRICULTURE AND AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY (AAT)
The faculty of Agriculture and agricultural technology offered by FUTMINNA has six different departments which are named below:
- Agricultural Economics and Extension Technology
- Animal Production
- Crop Production
- Food Science and Technology
- Soil Science and Land management and Water Resources
- Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology.

9. INFRASTRUCTURE, PROCESS ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY (IPET)
FUTMINNA faculty of Infrastructure, Process Engineering and Technology was carved out from the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology by the decision of the 427th Senate held on the 24th November, 2017.
This faculty took effect in 2017/2018 academic wession with five (5) departments namely:
- Agricultural and Bio-resources Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering and Materials and
- Metallurgy Engineering
10. POSTGRADUATE STUDIES
You can gain Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) certificate from Federal University of Technology Minna using your HND, B.tech certificate to study any course of your choice.
