College of health science and technology, fondly called by people ”School of health” or ”College of health” is an ND awarding tertiary institution mostly attended by the students who want to study health related courses or become a medical technician in their community.

By attending school of health, you will be issued ND certificate after your successful program and the duration is two to three years (depending on your course of study).

List of courses offered in school of health technology and their requirements

COURSE NAMEENTRY REQUIREMENTS
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER (ND)Minimum entry requirement into National Diploma (ND) in Environmental Health Technology Programme is five (5) O’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Health Science in WASCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE in not more than two sittings. Candidates should have JAMB score of 150 and above.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER (HND)(a) Five (5) O’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Health Science in WASCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE in not more than two sittings with Environmental Health Officer – ND certificate
OR
(b) Environmental Health Technician Certificate with College Result and WAHEB with 2021 JAMB score
OR
(c) Health Promotion Education Certificate with College Result and WAHEB with 2021 JAMB score.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIANMinimum of five (5) credits in O’level WASCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE in not more than two sittings. Note that the five (5) credits must include Credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and any two credits selected from the following subjects:- Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Agricultural Science. (WASCE and NECO can be combined)
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
HEALTH PROMOTION AND EDUCATIONMinimum of five (5) credits in WASCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and any two (2) subjects:- Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
DISPENSING OPTICIANRYMinimum of four (4) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in WASSC/SSCE/NECO not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry and or Biology.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
MEDICAL IMAGING PROCESSING TECHNICIANFive (5) credit at not more than two (2) sittings in WASCE/SSCE/NECO/GCE in the following subjects:
English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Holders of Certificate in Medical Dark Room Practice of the Institution of Radiographers of Nigeria (Dark Room Assistant Certificate) plus the requirement stated above shall be admitted for will two (2) years duration to complete the Medical Imaging Processing Technicians Programme.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
PHARMACY TECHNICIANFive (5) O’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology in WASCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE in not more than two (2) sittings.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
COMMUNITY HEALTH EXTENSION WORKERS (CHEW)Five (5) O’level credits level at WASSC/SSCE/NECO/GCE in not more than two (2) sittings.
These must include:
English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Physics and Chemistry. Possession of JCHEW certificate is an added advantage.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
JUNIOR COMMUNITY HEALTH EXTENSION WORKERS (JCHEW)Three (3) credits at O’level WASSC/SSCE/NECO/GCE in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and two (2) passes in Physics and Chemistry.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANFive (5) credits in WASCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/GCE that include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Holders of Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate with the above O’level can also apply. (WASCE and NECO can be combined) certificate with the above O’level.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT(i) Minimum of five (5) credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings at the WASCE/SSCE/NECO or its equivalent. The subjects must include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Physics,Chemistry and any other subject chosen from Economics, Geography, Religious Knowledge and a Nigerian Language.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT(i) Minimum of five (5) credits in relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings at the WASCE/SSCE/NECO or its equivalent. The subjects must include:- English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Physics or Chemistry and any other subject chosen from Economics, Geography, Religious Knowledge and a Nigerian Language plus JAMB score of 120 and above.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT(i) National Diploma (ND) Certificate in Health Information Management with a minimum of lower credit OR Professional Diploma OR Technician Certificate in Health Information Management from the Health Record Officers Registration Board of Nigeria. Candidates with the qualifications above should possess five (5) O’level credits in relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings at WASCE/SSCE/NECO or its equivalent. The subjects must include:- English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science, Physics or Chemistry and any other subject chosen from Economics, Geography, Religious Knowledge and a Nigerian Language.
(ii) Blood Group and Genotype report from a government hospital
PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING(a) Nigerian Registered Nursing (NRN) certificate.
(b) Registered Midwife (RM) certificate or any other Basic Nursing certificate eg. Psychiatric Nursing certificate plus one (1) year post qualification experience.
(c) National Diploma or its equivalent in nursing
(d) BNSC candidates from Universities accredited by NUC, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and WAHEB.
(e) BNSC candidates from Universities outside the country and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
(f) Holders of the above must possess basic O’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
