While Ahmadu Bello University was established on 4 October 1962, the College of Medical Sciences came into being in 1967, the first of such in northern Nigeria.

4. UNIVERSITY OF ILORIN (UNILORIN)

University of Ilorin as one of the best accredited medical schools in Nigeria, it has so far been produced 4,609 Medical graduates which is distributed as 3,530 males and 1,071 females since the inception of its Medical School.

Some of these have acquired Postgraduate degrees at home and abroad and have joined the academic staff of the College.
